The Quick Hellos on HBO’s True Blood, Aug 12 (episode #510)

Some “bloody” good news you can really “sink your teeth into”… an instrumental version of The Quick Hellos song “Growing Up Too Slow” will play, albeit very quietly, on the HBO show True Blood – episode 510 “Gone Gone Gone.”

The scene is described as: Steve is on the computer in the back room at Merlotte’s. Watch for it on Aug 12!

Here’s the full version below, if you’d care to have a listen (or buy!):

Buzz Bands LA Previews the Quick Hellos Debut Show

I’ve always been a fan of Kevin Bronson’s writing – he is the rare music journalist who still goes to every show, knows everything about the LA music scene, and still gives a damn.

Here’s his show preview with a little interview mixed in:

Dan Crane has carved out pretty enviable stage personas as Jean-Luc Retard in the cheeky fake-French band Nous Non Plus and as air guitar legend Björn Türoque. But in his newest endeavor, the Quick Hellos, he plays non other than Dan Crane, a guy who writes downright pretty songs.

Fresh Lovin’ from the Oven…

We finished mixing yesterday and our first track is ready for public debut. Recording and mixing was done by the completely excellent Mark Rains at Station House Studio in Echo Park.

I don’t mind
stayin here inside
when it rains we’re stuck until the leaves are dry
then we could go out walkin in the sun

I don’t mind
stayin out all night
watchin stars fadin in and outta site
stuck out on a roof lyin on our backs

sealed fates
in landlocked states
don’t it make you wanna tell a lie to everyone

i don’t mind
bein left behind
look at the dent in the pillow that was nexta mine
slowly rise and disappear

cut me in
please don’t cut me out
i’ll begin by ignorin what it’s all about
there’s no time for freedom anymore

wake me up at 5 am
just to make me watch you go and then come back again
see your breath: a breadcrumb trail
don’t you let it take away all the things
you said you’d do to me when you were older

wake me up at 5 am
just to make me watch you go and then come back again
see your breath: a breadcrumb trail
don’t you let it
don’t you let it
and don’t you let it
catch you cause you’re sittin on the fence
